McCain Foods (Canada) is currently seeking a Sanitation Manager to join our leadership team at our Florenceville Potato facility in Florenceville-Bristol, N.B.This position reports directly to the Production Manager and is a key member of the Plant Leadership team.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead the sanitation department to ensure that all food safety guidelines are met while adhering to all human and chemical safety procedures
  • Be responsible for the training and effectiveness of the HACCP Sanitation Manual and ensure it is kept current
  • Work closely with production, quality and maintenance in directing activities during sanitation days and daily sanitation activities, as well as working closely with the corporate quality department to implement new sanitation standards and reporting requirements
  • Be an active leader in the plant's fryer safety program, which involves mentoring and training all fryer operators and supervisors to help eliminate fryer fire risk and improve overall operation of the equipment
  • Lead the Sanitation Team in safe working practices, including chemical handling, PPE, and WSNB requirements
  • Develop and manage the annual chemical and sanitation budget
  • Liaison between McCain and EcoLab for all chemical inventory, equipment upgrades and training requirements
  • Maintain plant pest-control program with EcoLab's pest control division
  • Ensure compliance with the McCain Foods' sanitation guidelines, customer requirements and government requirements
  • Have a clear understanding of the manufacturing process and equipment function in order to ensure proper equipment sanitation
  • Have a clear understanding of fryer operation and boil out process
  • Own and manage the iAuditor program for fryer scrapes, pre and post boil out audits
  • Inspect and evaluate cleanliness and physical condition of facilities on a daily basis
  • Participate in food safety audits in conjunction with Quality department
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Annual performance management of Day Sanitation team
  • Performs other projects and/or duties as assigned or needed
  • Incorporate sanitation goals into the plant continuous improvement programs

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent training and experience
  • A willingness to further education in HACCP certification, BRC requirements and Micro standards
  • Experience and knowledge in all facets of cleaning and sanitation of a food processing facility
  • Prior supervisory experience is a definite asset
  • Prior training experience (preferred)
  • Working knowledge/understanding of principles and processes for providing sanitation and cleaning services, including needs assessment, meeting quality standards, and evaluation of results.
  • Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) for a food processing facility.
  • Knowledge of food processing sanitation and personal hygiene.
  • Understanding and basic knowledge of microbiology
  • The ability to write clear and concise reports, documents, and procedures
  • Excellent time management skills to plan work schedules and ensuring deadlines are met
  • Knowledge of HACCP preparation and procedures
  • The ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and regulatory requirements, including chemical labels.
  • The ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and effectively.
  • A basic understanding of PLC program logic for all equipment CIP (clean in place) programs.
  • CPR and First Aid training
