(Alert) Atlantic Environmental Response Team - Summer Student

As an Atlantic Environmental Response Team (ALERT) Student you will be interested in environmental remediation and support a business critical team that is focused on oil spill response in the Bay of Fundy. You will assist in updating area plans, assist in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of geographic data, create and maintain GIS databases and travel to sites along the Bay of Fundy to validate, and update the shoreline data. Other activities would include participation in regular ALERT daily activities as required, such as training sessions and planning for ALERT Exercises both in the office and in the field.

This role requires the student to be onsite 5 days a week.

Your Skills:

  • Safety as-a-way-of-life mindset
  • Strong verbal and effective communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate with others in a team environment
  • Self-motivated; ability to work independently
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Teams
  • Have an understanding of ArcGIS and data analysis
  • Comfortable working on water
  • Driver's License - Class 5 is required
  • Comfortable working with mobile apps and technology on smart phones

Your Experience:

  • Currently enrolled in a Geography, Geotechnical, Environmental Science or related program
  • Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be returning to school
