As a Customs Analyst, you will assist with two new government programs with obligations specific to the Customs Compliance team. These are the CBSA Assessment Revenue Management (CARM) program created by Canadian Customs (CBSA), which is transitioning into Phase 2 this fall. The other is the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) in the EU, which was created by the European Commission. Your goal will also be to support the Customs Team with the European Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) program in the EU which is designed to secure supply chain with customs and facilitate legitimate low-risk trade.

Your Responsibilities:
Researching and developing an appropriate understanding of both Canadian and U.S. current customs legislation
Ensure the Company complies with Canada, US and EU Customs Laws and Regulations, including USMCA-CUSMA
Interact with customs authorities and strengthen relationship with these entities
Support Customs audits through preparation of audit query responses under direction from Customs Manager
Train and provide support to the Business and corporate staff on importing and exporting procedures
Prepare and file importation of goods into Canada information electronically to Revenue Canada
Coordinate with various Vendors and Carriers with respect to importing & exporting expediting
Assist with development of procedures and provide training for processes within the Business that drive customs compliance
Support compliance initiatives, including maintaining documentation, as necessary, with respect to customs activities of business, including development of and carrying out monitoring initiatives and providing governance over customs activities as well as supporting Business initiatives
Flexibility to be available outside of work hours for on-call work
Your Skills:
Advanced time management and prioritization skills
Ability to understand complex regulatory issues
Strong communication skills for interacting with customers, other team members, external customs brokerages, and regulatory authorities
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Your Experience:
Post-Secondary Education in a related field an asset
Completion of Certified Custom Specialist (CCS) course and/or working towards Certified Trade Compliance (CTCS) designation required
Knowledge of HS Classification system and Customs Import & Export procedures required
Minimum of 3-5 years of customs experience required. Customs brokerage experience preferred
