As the Engineering Quality Management Lead, your role is to manage company risk by ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies, overseeing quality control processes, and leading process improvement initiatives. Your goal will be to collaborate with various teams to evaluate and select suppliers, oversee supplier audits, and maintain quality throughout. You are also responsible for maintaining records of quality and provide regular reports to management. Your success will be seen in working collaboratively with other departments and the Engineering Services leadership team to align quality goals and solve problems. You will also provide mentorship in the form of coaching or training sessions to enhance the understanding of quality principles, standards, and best practices among engineering teams.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and improve processes that focus on preventing defects before they occur.

  • Lead the assessment of Engineering Services work to ensure that all engineering activities adhere to relevant industry standards, regulations, and company policies.

  • Oversee other quality control processes such as inspections and testing to identify and address any deviations from quality standards.

  • Lead team members to identify areas for process improvement.

  • Lead the identification and assessment of risks associated with the deliverables generated by the engineering services team.

  • Develop and coach others to develop effective risk mitigation strategies.

  • Collaborate with the Supply Management Team, Manager of External Engineering Management, and Supplier Quality Specialist(s) to evaluate and select suppliers based on quality performance, reliability, and adherence to specifications.

  • Oversee regular audits of suppliers’ processes and deliverables to help maintain consistent quality throughout.

  • Perform editorial reviews of Engineering Management Documents to ensure legibility and brevity.

  • Ensure accurate documentation of quality-related activities, including self-assessments and inspection reports are created and maintained.

  • Provide regular reports to management on quality metrics, trends, and improvement initiatives.

  • Work collaboratively and closely with departments (such as supply management, operations, construction, project execution, and external equipment and service providers) to align quality goals and solve problems.

  • Lead and/ or conduct training sessions for engineering teams to enhance their understanding of quality principles, standards, and best practices.

Your Skills:

  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.

  • Excellent written (English) and verbal (English) communication skills applied to convey information to front-line employees and senior leadership team members.

  • Proven ability to design and influence organizational change.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (i.e.: Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)

  • Strong attention to detail in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands and deadlines.

  • Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.

  • Detail-oriented along with excellent analytical skills.

Your Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Engineering or Engineering Technology is an asset.

  • 10+ years of experience in engineering roles.

  • 5+ years of experience performing quality assessments or audits.

  • 5+ years of experience managing quality programs for an engineering teams.

  • Experience that will be considered an asset: Oil and Gas industry experience, lean six sigma green or black belt certifications, and leading or managing engineering teams.
