As an LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gases) Trader you will be responsible for all butane purchases and propylene/ propane sales for our Saint John Refinery. Your goal will be to purchase the grades of butane needed by the refinery, in line with the demand forecast & LPG Schedule, through a combination of spot and term purchases as well as optimizing propylene/ propane disposition through sales (spot and term), alkylation or refinery fuel. Your success will result in a reliable supply chain that maximizes refining economics.

Your Responsibilities:
Balance Refinery LPG inventory through trading and negotiating
Maximize butane blending margin and optimize Alkylation Plant economics
Sell Refinery propane production as required at best possible netbacks
Sell Refinery excess propylene production and strategize its disposition between internal consumption and external sales
Improve LPG economics by developing new strategic options
Responsible for spot trading and term business contracts
Identify a variety of value-added opportunities for the company by analysis of market news and data from around the world
Develop and monitor new relationships with customers and suppliers through a solid understanding of the value of long term customer service
Build customer service with IEDM and other Propane and Propylene customers through in person and on the phone contact
Develop basic understanding of refining and establish solid relationships with Refinery Planners and Engineers

Strong analytical skills
Proven ability to maintain good working relationships with stakeholders including senior leaders
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience dealing with multiple priorities and deadlines / proven ability to meet hard deadlines
Strong attention to detail
Your Experience:
Post-secondary education in business, economics, finance related disciplines, engineering or equivalent experience would be an asset
3-5 years experience in trading industry. Negotiating and contract experience
Experience in energy markets analysis
Prior Liquified Petroleum Gas experience and knowledge of Rail and pipelines would be an asset
