We have an exciting opportunity on our Supply Management team to fill the role of Manager of Turnaround Contracts and Procurement at our refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. In this role you will lead our Turnaround Contract and Procurement team to source the goods and services required to facilitate turnaround events at Canada’s largest oil refinery. This opportunity requires on site presence and involves close collaboration with multiple entities including suppliers, contractors, and Irving Oil construction and project management teams.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development of contracting and procurement strategies for turnarounds

  • Foster strong relationships and open communications with suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders

  • Coach and mentor team members to ensure accountability and development

  • Ensure contractors and suppliers are adhering to terms and conditions of their agreements and key performance indicators (KPI’s) to drive value and productivity

  • Work with contractors to identify opportunities for innovation, efficiency, and cost savings

  • Ensure that procurement practices and procedures are being followed throughout the procurement life cycle

  • Ensure the turnaround execution team has all the resources (goods and services) necessary to execute turnarounds

  • Support long term strategic planning for future turnaround events and optimization of overall site maintenance program.

Your Skills:

  • Strong leadership skills

  • A continuous improvement and value creation mindset

  • Effective communication skills

  • Strong understanding of Change Management processes

  • Ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiations

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced high pressure environment

  • Ability to read, interpret, and translate engineering drawings and specifications

  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office applications including SharePoint and Power BI

Your Experience:

  • 10 years of procurement experience – including experience with the full procurement lifecycle

  • 5+ years management experience

  • Experience with maintenance turnaround events
