As a Senior Contracts and Procurement Specialist, you will be accountable for developing and implementing strategies, and leading sourcing initiatives. Your goal will be to procure assets efficiently and effectively, and manage supplier contracts, relationships and performance across a variety of business units. Your success in this position will also be demonstrated in the exceptional support you provide to Irving Oil's Network Development/Retail categories.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement multi-year category sourcing strategies utilizing best practices

  • Manage the strategic sourcing process, including RFx initiatives, proposal evaluations, negotiation strategies, contract negotiations, execution, and maintenance

  • Identify external and internal stakeholders and their requirements and engage appropriately in activities

  • Facilitate internal Total Cost of Ownership reduction initiatives and identify savings opportunities

  • Manage contracts and supplier relationships, including the development and implementation of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and increased value

  • Implement supply management methodologies, processes, policies and procedures

  • Understand legal concepts as they pertain to proposals, contracting and executing on existing contracts

  • Assist with mentoring / learning / coaching with junior and intermediate members of the team

Your Skills:

  • Ability to develop strategic visions and create plans for implementation

  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, network, and build relationships

  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively

  • Strong negotiation, influencing, and persuasion skills

  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and cost modeling skills

  • Strong contract drafting skills and knowledge of contract law

  • Ability to evaluate and mitigate commercial risks

Your Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in business, or equivalent experience

  • 10 years of experience in Supply Chain Management

  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or other similar designation an asset
