As a Controls Systems Engineering Team Lead you will provide additional leadership support to the Engineering Services Control Systems Engineering Group Lead, assisting them with managing teams of control systems engineers and designers, interfacing with peers, partners, and stakeholders to support the successful planning and execution of our work, and building and sustaining our capabilities. Your success will enable our multi-disciplinary team of engineers/designers to execute safely, efficiently, reliably, and productively on a variety of capital / expense projects and energy transition work.
Please note: This work will require periodic visits to our operating facilities. You must be able to work in the field, including working in year-round weather conditions, able to bend, climb, stoop, kneel, crawl, etc. and able to lift up to 20lbs. You must be comfortable with high elevation climbing, working at heights, and in enclosed spaces. You must be able to wear full PPE as required by safety standards

Your Responsibilities:
Lead engineering and design efforts by your assigned team members on complex, multi-discipline capital projects. Check and approve work and provide working supervision, guidance, and assistance to your team members
Develop, execute, and regularly report on resource plans for your assigned team members and projects, to ensure effective cost, schedule, and quality performance
Support regular performance reviews and provide coaching and feedback for your assigned team and support continuous professional development activities
Effectively communicate and coordinate activities with other Group and Team Leads, Managers and Senior Managers, and with key stakeholders for your assigned projects and people
Lead by example, driving consistent adherence to established workflows, processes, procedures, and practices to ensure consistent work quality
Contribute to continuous improvement of the whole discipline team and Engineering Services department at a leadership level, identifying opportunities, and coordinating resources to implement those improvements
Support your Control Systems Group Lead and others on the ES leadership team on strategic initiatives
Collaborate on project work with 3rd party engineering consultants and contractors. Direct, review and approve their work and deliverables
As this is a working-Lead role, typical day-to-day design activities of a Senior Instrumentation and Control Designer or Engineer are also expected
Your Skills:
Strong Technical Report Writing and experience with Control, Pressure Safety, and Motor Operated Valve design
Ability to provide direction, constructive criticism, and thorough checking effectively to other control systems engineers and designers
Well organized, and able to assign and direct control systems engineering activities on multiple projects being developed in parallel, while retaining focus on project cost and schedule commitments, cross-discipline dependencies, field requirements, relevant codes and standards, and stakeholder requirements
Very strong at working collaboratively with others both in own team and cross-functional teams. Able to communicate disagreements in design and constructively influence required changes across engineering disciplines
Excellent understanding of oil refinery operations and associated economic drivers
Your Experience:
Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology (or equivalent) with P.Tech designation (or immediate eligibility) or a Relevant University Engineering degree with P.Eng. designation (or immediate eligibility) in New Brunswick
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the design of chemical, petrochemical or oil & gas plants. Brownfield oil and gas experience, particularly in oil refining, is a strong asset
