We are looking for a Planner Shutdown - Pellet Plant to ensure the asset management work management process is followed for major equipment shutdowns. The role specifically provides and optimizes plans and instructions for plant equipment shutdowns and re-starts, to meet agreed targets. This will require plans to be completed in a timely manner and sufficient quality and detail to allow for maintenance activities to be completed as scheduled, safely and efficiently, with minimum equipment downtime.

Reporting to the Superintendent Asset Management and working in an exciting and unique environment within the Iron Ore Company of Canada, you will:

  • Approve maintenance planning work prior to shutdown scheduling process
  • Participate in weekly planning meetings
  • Build and maintain annual maintenance calendars
  • Champion the Shut Management and Work Management models for the Pellet Plant
  • Prioritize identified work with all stakeholders
  • Coordinate between departments and other areas of the business to schedule maintenance activities
  • Build draft and final project schedules to support shutdown maintenance work
  • Participate in development of budgets and forecasts
  • Promote a culture that visibly demonstrates compliance with IOC's HSE standards, mission & values
  • Plan for resources required for planned and scheduled maintenance shutdowns
  • Assist in the review, communication and posting of KPI's on the area KPI board
  • Understand the relationship between maintenance planning, scheduling, execution and improvement, and aligns with operational goals/objectives
  • Act on the Asset Management Superintendent's behalf during annual leave or while offsite

What you'll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Red Seal Trade or Technical Diploma or Engineering B.Sc. or equivalent experience•
  • Demonstrated in depth planning and scheduling knowledge using a CMMS system - SAP preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar industrial setting, mining, processing, manufacturing or related setting, preferably in a maintenance planning role.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Maintenance work management processes
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite & Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 schedule builders

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • Experience with fixed plant equipment - ball mills, belt conveyors, induration furnaces, floatation circuits, & pumping systems.
  • Project management experience
  • In-depth experience with Microsoft Project and SAP
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma training
