We are looking for an SPCT Technical Lead Primary Grinding.

The Safe Production Centric Team (SPCT) consists of multi-disciplinary team members from operations, maintenance, and process technology which supports key operations to ensure that the Concentrator is operating efficiently. The team promotes continuous improvement with a problem-solving mind set. It is a cross-functional team tasked with breaking down silos to continually improve performance using Rio Tinto Safe Production System (RT SPS) practices.

Reporting to the Principal Advisor Process Development, you will:

  • Contribute to safety performance
  • Collaborate with multidiscipline teams
  • Continuously drive performance improvement using RT SPS techniques, processes, and systems
  • Track process-related breakdowns, assess root causes, implement countermeasures
  • Analyze data, root causes, and enable the frontline personnel to resolve problems at the correct level
  • Continuously improve standards and processes related to equipment performance and limits
  • Collaborate with the other members of SPCT in the implementation and improvement of RT SPS practices
  • Conduct technical test work to ensure optimal process equipment performance
  • Identify and implement technical improvement opportunities
  • Provide technical support to operational teams on daily issues
  • Provide technical support to process engineers executing projects
  • Assist the instrumentation team with the calibration of gauges/sensors/scales
  • Other duties as assigned/required

What you'll bring

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Technical Diploma in Mineral processing/process technology or relevant work experience
  • Minimum of 2-5 years' experience in a similar industrial setting, mining, processing, manufacturing or related setting
  • Strong teamwork skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite

It will also be beneficial if you have:

  • P. Tech designation
  • Experience with iron ore processing
  • Experience with autogenous grinding mills
