BUILDING SERVICES SUPERVISOR
(Infrastructure and Maintenance)
Facilities and Technical Services
(Contractual to March 31, 2027)
We are seeking a highly qualified Technologist in the role of a Building Services Supervisor responsible for planning, overseeing projects and maintenance of the Marine Institute's facilities at Ridge Road, The Launch (Holyrood), and other sites.
DUTIES
The successful applicant will be responsible for; Supervision of the activities of facilities staff to foster a collaborative work environment. This includes the assignment and distribution of workload and oversight of external service contractors; providing detailed construction cost estimates of proposed projects; provide support in the creation of comprehensive work packages for multi-disciplinary tenders, coordinating with internal teams and external consultants; facilitate the development of detailed construction documents, ensure compliance with regulatory codes, industry standards and project-specific needs; assisting in the preparation of service contracts; project management; organize, schedule, track milestones and deliverables. Resolving issues relating to design, construction, and cost. Acting as the liaison between building occupants, building owners, and contractors to ensure smooth project outcomes. Liaising with regulatory organizations and relevant authorities, including assisting with audits and remedial actions; assisting in space planning and space assignment; utilizing the Computerized Maintenance Management System to initiate and track all work-orders and requests. Maintain shop inventories and equipment records; maintain oversight of preventative maintenance program and development and maintenance of ISO policies and procedures; performing other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Thorough experience (5-10 years) in the performance and/or oversight of building maintenance work at a skilled level, preferably in a general building service environment involving carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and custodial; including supervisory experience and strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills is required. Successful completion of an accredited 3-year engineering technology program in architectural, civil, electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering technology, or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Proficiency in the use of the latest version of Microsoft Project and AutoCAD is required. Possession of a valid driver's licence, as issued by the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador, is required.
SALARY $66,092 - $90,126 (Management and Professional)
