About this opportunity:
The Marine Technician will be part of the SeaRose Marine Team, reporting to the Marine Coordinator. The incumbent will be responsible for various shipboard duties to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the SeaRose FPSO. Key responsibilities include managing ballast and cargo tank levels for stability, performing gas testing, acting as a coxswain and weather observer, and supporting helicopter operations. The role also involves operating CCR telecommunications, collaborating with other vessels and onboard staff, and assisting with crude oil handling and maintenance tasks. This role is vital for maintaining compliance with Transport Canada's Minimum Safe Manning requirements.
This is a full-time, permanent position working offshore 12-hours per day on a 3 weeks on/ 3 weeks off rotation.
What you'll do:
Engage in Emergency Response duties and scenarios, taking on roles such as Ballast Control, Assistant Coxswain, Coxswain, or Weather Observer, while also handling maintenance notifications in Systems, Applications, and Products, and handling all aspects of the Differential and Absolute Reference Positioning System
Ensure the FPSO remains in a stable condition at all times by monitoring draft, trim, and list as well as observe collision avoidance procedures by using radar and weather monitoring, taking into account current conditions and forecasts
Conduct cargo calculations, document required data, and handle the distribution and control of inert gas to cargo and ballast tanks
Liaise with the Ice Observer regarding prevalent ice conditions, and be responsible for weather observations and the comprehensive management of helicopter operations, including radio communication
Maintain radar and radio watch keeping, including the monitoring and testing of GMDSS equipment and logs, and operation of CCR telecommunications with standby vessels, shuttle tankers, vessel operators, crane operators, maintenance crews, and other relevant traffic
While FPSO is disconnected from SeaRose Mooring System, this role reports directly to the Sr. Coordinator, Marine (Master) and Maintains navigational bridge watch as per Master's Orders
Assist with all crude oil wash and tank cleaning operations, and with the planning and execution of tank entries within the area of authority
Training as required by the CAPP Standard Practice for Training & Qualifications of Personnel, Transport Canada, other regulatory requirements, and company required training as per the approved Cenovus Training Matrix
Who you are:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Minimum of 3 years' experience in the Shipping or Oil & Gas Industry with 2 years' experience in Oil Tanker and/or FPSO Operations
Minimum Canadian Watch Keeping Mate Certificate of Competency or higher
Oil Tanker endorsement Level 1 (Basic training for Oil tanker Cargo Operations - Officer) or advanced
Valid GMDSS
Experience as a Chief Officer, HLO, banksman, or on an offshore fire team are assets
Experience with transportation of dangerous goods, crude oil washing, gas testing, rigging and lifting, fall arrest, or confined space entry are assets
WHMIS 2015 certification, Basic Survival Training Certification, and Inert Gas Certification are assets
This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to offshore pre-placement Fitness for Work assessments, which includes drug and alcohol screening, a CAPP medical and BST/HUEBA testing.
You must be able to travel via helicopter and boat. This position requires the successful candidate travel offshore, there you will be required to obtain and maintain medical clearance and obtain all required training necessary for offshore travel.
