At SMS Equipment, our Reliability Analyst provides technical support to customers and internal teams by analyzing product failures, collaborating with OEMs to resolve issues, and producing detailed technical reports. This role also involves tracking equipment availability, compiling technical data, and assisting customers in developing maintenance programs for new equipment.

The salary for this position ranges from $90,000 - $95,000 per annum.

This role is based in Wabush, NL, and follows a 5x2 rotation schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reliability and Availability Management: Review and enhance the reliability of customer equipment, reconcile downtime reports, track and analyze equipment availability, and lead continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Technical Documentation and Reporting: Prepare and manage maintenance, system, and process documentation, including developing maintenance plans, collecting best practices, and submitting technical reports such as TSI and failure reports to OEMs and stakeholders.
  • Customer and Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the main contact for customer technical inquiries, attend site meetings, and collaborate closely with OEMs and internal teams to address issues, develop maintenance strategies, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Cost and Performance Optimization: Review cost-per-hour contracts, analyze key performance indicators, provide recommendations for operational improvements, and support warranty departments with technical service reporting.

Qualifications:

In this role, the ideal candidate will have an at least 2 years of relevant experience in reliability engineering. While an engineering degree or diploma, ideally in mechanical engineering (EIT preferred), is an asset, candidates with the right experience will be considered equally.

  • Knowledge of OHSE regulations, fleet inspection requirements, and maintenance standards.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage deadlines and projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Experience with Pareto charts, principles, and analysis is an asset.
