Centennial Carstar Amherst is looking for a skilled and motivated individual to join our team as an Automotive Painter/Prepper!

NOW HIRING: Automotive Painter/Prepper

LOCATION: Centennial Carstar Amherst, NS

HOURS: Full time, Permanent. 40 hours per week.

WAGES: $40,000 to 80,000 annually + benefits (negotiable based on experience, flat rate is an option)

You have previous experience as an automotive painter/prepper or in a related field, and your goal is to ensure vehicles look their best with high-quality finishes and top-notch customer satisfaction.

APPLICABLE SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be reliable, show initiative, and take pride in quality work.
  • Able to prioritize, multitask, and work independently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Physically capable of performing the duties, including frequent bending, crouching, and lifting up to 50lbs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environment.
  • Experience in painting and prepping is essential. Additional training will be provided.


MAIN JOB TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Painter:
    • Performs all refinish work according to specs.
    • Select paint according to company requirements.
    • Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, such as blisters or streaks, and correct their causes.
    • Mix paints to match color specifications or vehicles' original colors
    • Follow OEM standards for blending formulas, top coat application, and curing.
    • Assist with production and flow of shop (high level communication required)
  • Prepper:
    • Surface Preparation: Sanding, grinding, and filling imperfections on vehicle surfaces.
    • Masking: Covering areas not being worked on to protect from paint or other materials.
    • Priming: Applying primer to surfaces to enhance paint adhesion.
    • Sanding: Smoothing surfaces after priming and before painting.
    • Cleaning: Ensuring surfaces are clean and free from dust or debris.
    • Taping: Applying tape to create defined paint lines or patterns.
    • Mixing Materials: Preparing paints, coatings, and other materials for application.
    • Assisting Painters: Preparing vehicles for painting by ensuring proper surfaces.
    • Detailing: Cleaning and polishing surfaces after painting for a finished look.
    • Equipment Maintenance: Cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment.
    • Moving vehicles in and out of the shop.
    • Performs other tasks, based on management requirements and instructions.
    • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment.
