The Building Services Group at the Department of Public Works supports Nova Scotia's 2,400 buildings and infrastructure assets across a wide range of clients. We maintain and support various government buildings and other built assets, including museums, core buildings and office buildings supporting the work of government, correctional centres, and justice centres.
As the Building Technician Student in Port Hawkesbury, you will support the operation of two facilities in the Port Hawkesbury area, Port Hawkesbury Justice Center, 15 Kennedy St. and the Port Hawkesbury Provincial Building, 218 MacSween Street. As the Building Technician Student in Sydney, you will support the operations at the Sydney Provincial Building, 360 Prince St, Sydney.

You will assist the Building Operator in a wide range of duties and have the opportunity to:
You are a student currently enrolled in a Power Engineering Technology program or the Building Environmental Systems Program (BES) or an acceptable trade such as plumbing, electrical and Instrumentation along with the Power Engineering program. You must also be returning to school in the fall (or in the next applicable semester for the education program).
Travel is a component of this position; you must have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable motor vehicle. Please include a copy of your current driver's abstract with your application.

This is a labor-intensive opportunity requiring physical strength and dexterity. At times, you are subject to various environmental and temperature extremes.
This opportunity will start approximately April 28, 2025 with an end date of August 29, 2025.
The student will be required to successfully pass a criminal background check for this position.

Pay Grade: HOURLY
Salary Range: $18.22 - $29.69 Hourly
