About the role

The candidate will be involved in the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Program, including Ship Integration and Design work from CSC Combat Systems. This is a Lead position which will require frequent interfacing across customer, sub-contractor, and internal teams.

The candidate will function in a fast-paced multi-disciplined team environment, and participate in all appropriate Ship Combat Systems Integration (CSI) and Design activities including but not limited to:

  • Coordinate and support technical deliverables across Modelling and Arrangements (M&A), Cable Management, Ship Integration Engineering (SIE), Combat System Equipment List (CSEL), Technical Data Package (TDP), and Project Engineering teams.
  • Maintenance of a high standard of professional excellence
  • Support Irving Shipbuilding Inc. (ISI) in sell-off of Combat Systems Ship Integration and Design performance and test requirements
  • Attend ISI, sub-contractor, Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), and internal Lockheed Martin meetings as required
  • Resolution of Ship Integration and Design Cross Product Team (CPT) related issues and discrepancies with the customer
  • Liaison with respective Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), Subcontract Administrators (SCAs), etc. to resolve technical issues in support of Ship Integration and Design work activity
  • Support/implement initiatives to improve Ship Combat Systems Installation, Integration and test program efficiencies and minimize rework
  • Share lessons learned with peers and co-workers across the organization
  • Assist in refining staffing plan and requirements in support of execution of Ship Integration and Design Integration Scope.

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering, Science or related field
  • 10 + years’ combined technical and management experience in a related field
  • Demonstrated capability to perform well in difficult or ambiguous situations
  • Experience in a shipyard environment
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Aptitude for providing technical guidance and solving challenging problems
  • Works well individually or in a team environment
  • Possess outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of Naval Combat Systems would be considered an asset
  • Ability to acquire North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret Security clearance.

  • Experience in Ship Platform and Combat systems Design and integration Experience
  • Experience in a Shipyard Production environment
  • Experience with Shipyard production Quality Control (QC)/Quality Assurance (QA) activity

  • Combat System Cable Management Experience
  • Shipboard Damage Control and Survivability Experience
  • Ability to work Overtime when required
  • Ability to work onboard a Naval Vessel at height and in confined spaces
  • Materials Management experience
  • Common office administrative software tools experience (Microsoft Office products)
  • Planning and scheduling experience (Microsoft Project and/or Primavera).
