About the role

The Front-End Developer is part of our Training and Sustainment Development team. Working alongside the Product Owner, Quality Assurance, Back-End Developer, and Development Operations, the Front-End Developer will build the human interfaces which connects our customers to our services and databases. The ideal candidate has a strong background in user experience and user interface design, working in an Agile environment with a user centric mindset to test and define and develop user interfaces that meet the needs of the end users.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct user research and translate findings into design concepts
  • Create wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes of potential UX/UI solutions
  • Conduct usability testing sessions, gather feedback, and iterate on designs
  • Develop responsive and accessible web interfaces using HTML, CSS (including modern frameworks like Flexbox and Grid), and JavaScript frameworks
  • Consume, define and integrate RESTful APIs endpoints to display dynamic data using ReactJS or similar frameworks
  • Optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability
  • Use version control systems like Git for collaboration and project management
  • Write clean, reusable, and maintainable code
  • Conduct unit, integration, and end-to-end testing

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in a related discipline or equivalent combined education and experience (i.e. 2 year diploma plus 2 years of work experience)
  • HTML5, CSS as well as Frameworks such as Flexbox and Bootstrap
  • JavaScript, ReactJS, NodeJS or similar
  • API Integration
  • Asynchronous Programming
  • User Interface Mockups, Wireframing and Prototyping.
  • User Research Methodologies (Card Sorting, User Testing etc.)
  • Diagram Designs (User Journeys, Flow Diagrams etc.)
  • Git

Additional skills desired for the role

  • In this role it is anticipated you will work with these software applications. Demonstrated experience in these or similar applications is considered a nice to have.
  • Adobe Experience Design including Photoshop and/or Illustrator
  • Balsamiq Wireframes
  • Experience with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modeling.
  • Building RESTful APIs and supporting documentation using tools such as Swagger..
  • Implementing authentication/authorization protocols (JWT, OAuth).
  • Experience with containerization tool such as Docker or Podman.
  • CI/CD pipelines experience in GitLab
