About the role

Direct responsibility for the administration, analysis, co-ordination and reporting of the Industrial Development (ID) obligations (ITB/VP) for Canadian defence programs. Additional functional support to the Contracts team will include participation in adjacent ID program management, ID contract management, and ID subcontract management in response to other Canadian and international government programs and capture opportunities.

A significant part of the job will involve Offset research, data and financial analysis and reporting on all aspects of industrial development, including but not limited to program/offset program reviews, capture approvals, conducting execution and risk management assessments relative to ID commitments, and with active participation at functional management, senior leadership and executive levels. This role will require interfacing with Canadian and international government and economic development agencies, defence/aerospace/advanced technology companies and institutions. Additional responsibilities relate to Economic Development Opportunities to identify and leverage sources of government funding (grants, tax credits, incentives) that help reduce cost of programs, R&D, and operations for Lockheed Martin Canada and/or our partners/SMB's/research institutions with whom we engage. In summary, the ability to analyze and leverage economic outcomes, and assess their impact upon policies, procedures and business transactions, including the associated determination of risk and cost to the company.

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, or other notable academic standing is a preference, and a minimum of three years of Industrial Development work experience within the defence sector.
  • Ability to self-organize and work without supervision as a member of a small team.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency with information technology.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Dynamic individual with experience interacting with government officials, company representatives and potential partners.
  • Useful areas of understanding would include: economics; Government structure and approval processes; and, risk identification and program management.
  • Familiarity with market and jurisdictional ID structures, policies and processes, and in particular with Government of Canada Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) Industrial Technological Benefits (ITB) Policy.
