An Engineer in the Build Strategy team will work to develop, maintain, expand, and refine the Build Strategy and associated analyses and evidence.
The Build Strategy is a key source of information to align Irving Shipbuilding Inc (ISI) functions, sub-contractors, and customers on the approach for the construction of ships at Irving Shipbuilding.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and resolve potential issues to construction
  • Perform capacity planning using simulation software for key work centers
  • Document all required aspects of the Build Strategy
  • Produce and contribute to the creation of the Build Schedule
  • Collaborate with multiple ISI functional teams to improve and prepare Shipyard processes for production
  • Review engineering documentation for application to and requirements for Build

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Recognized Degree in Engineering.
    • Registration with or eligible for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng)
  • Experience
    • 4+ years of experience in a complex industrial and manufacturing environment
    • Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge of design for build principles and their application.
    • Strong technical writing skills, able to author, manage and maintain build procedure documentation
    • Strong knowledge and ability for Data Analysis & Capture
    • Demonstrated capability to analyze engineering data and understand how to translate it into a production context
    • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in English, both orally and in writing
    • Demonstrated capability to work collaboratively amongst a team and external stakeholders
