The primary function of the Operations, Perishable Specialist is to process all perishable shipments, coordinating the movement and monitoring while in route. The position requires handling of shipments from start to finish ensuring compliance with DSV policies. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers and will provide the highest level of customer service and quality by efficiently processing all inbound and outbound requirements before or within agreed time frames. Direct communication with customers, overseas offices, airlines or ocean carriers and truckers is required.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Daily management and coordination of shipments.
• Collaborate and cooperate with overseas offices/agents to organize air and ocean shipments.
• Establish and coordinate schedules with carriers and tender/dispatch shipments.
• Create/prepare shipping documents as required.
• Work with customs brokers and customs agencies to arrange customs clearance/release for import shipments.
• Adhere to all domestic and international shipping regulations.
• Track and trace all shipments.
• Prepare and publish reports, as required.
• Proactively identify problems and swiftly implement the appropriate solutions.
• Regular communication with customers on shipment updates, issues and resolution.
• Confirm rates and service levels with carriers.
• Responsible for reconciling payables and vendor invoice approvals.
• Prepare quotes for clients and other network offices/agents.
• Evaluate shipments, consolidate loads, select most cost-effective method of pick up and/or delivery.
• Perform lane analysis to determine most appropriate mode of transport within customer requirements.
• Investigating non-conformities and working with Quality teams to develop corrective actions.
• Ensure all DSV KPIs met throughout the movement of the shipment.
• Book, Manage and monitor shipments afterhours and weekends

• Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.
• Staff are required to ensure that their day-to-day activities embrace sustainability, Health and safety therefore reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• A minimum of three years international transportation industry experience or,
• Education in supply chain logistics, international transportation, or a related field of study.
• CIFFA certificate, an asset
• Authorized Cargo Representative (ACR) designated status, an asset

• Good command, both verbal and written, English skills.

Language and Computer Skills

• English is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.
• Microsoft Office suite
• CargoWise experience, an asset

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods sitting and standing at a desk and working on a computer
• Regular working hours apply for this position, at times, working beyond these hours may be required by business needs.
