About the role

The Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Ship Cross Product Team (CPT) is seeking a candidate to support Dynamic Object-Orientated Requirements System (DOORS) database administration and Combat System Equipment List (CSEL) maintenance and design. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping improve and manage the various Ship CPT databases in DOORS while also contributing directly to the CSEL engineering effort.

The candidate will function in a fast-paced multi-disciplined team environment, and report to the Ship CPT Project Engineer. DOORS database management responsibilities shall include, but are not limited to the following datasets:

  • CSEL
  • Technical Delivery Package (TDP)
  • Installation Constraints
  • E-Docs
  • Blue Book.
Additional responsibilities include:
  • Review the existing CSEL working environment for improvement
  • Validate and maintain the architecture structure of the following datasets:
  • TDP
  • Installation constraints
  • E-Docs.
  • Build and link all new modules in DOORS
  • Develop Doors eXtension Language (DXL) scripts to generate output documents
  • Manage and provide continuous improvement to the system
  • Support CSEL release changes, planning and change management.

What you bring to the role

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a related discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 0-2 years of professional experience; or no experience required with a related master's degree.
  • Knowledge using DOORS™ (IBM Rational)
  • Experience with Data and Configuration Management
  • Strong relationship-building skills
  • Strong communication and writing skills
  • Works well individually or in a team environment
  • Ability to acquire North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) Secret Security clearance.

Additional skills desired for the role

  • Experience in Systems Engineering and/or System Architecture within a defence context
  • Experience in Ship Platform and Combat System design and integration
  • Experience with Microsoft Common Office Tools
Database Developer Skills:
  • Knowledge of physical database design and data structures
  • Knowledge of database objects including tables, indexes, views and statistic
  • Proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) with ability to write complex SQL queries and other features
  • Scripting skills: EXCEL VBA, Python or Perl.
