Architectural Drafters are skilled professionals who collaborate with architects and engineers to convert designs into technical plans. They use computer-aided design (CAD) software to create detailed drawings and layouts, calculate dimensions and material requirements, and describe production methods. The drafter's role is to assist in the creation of functional and well-designed structures by translating design concepts into accurate technical plans.
• Develop and prepare preliminary engineered drawings from concepts, sketches and specification sheets
• Create models using engineering software (CAD)
• Meet with a variety of customers (homeowners to General Contractors) and be able to accommodate requests made to designs
• Produce a specification sheet for the model created
• Verify drawings meet required specification
• Estimate material lists and costs for a set of plans
• Independent, creative thinkers, problem solvers who can think about an entire problem and solution rather than a single item at a time
• Able to listen and gather information to ensure accuracy
• Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Able to use various software (Microsoft, CAD)
