You as a Construction Manager will:

  • Plan, coordinate and/or supervise activities of all company personnel on assigned project(s).
  • Authorize/approve all project personnel transactions (hiring, transfers ,wages, etc.), purchase requisitions, change requests, etc.
  • Ensure all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, etc., are adhered to. Interpret policies as required.
  • Cost forecasting/contingency and cash allowance expenditures - Develop and maintain cost tracking (ledgers).
  • Provide direction to planning, scheduling, and engineering functions as required.
  • Develop strategy to ensure project financial goals are achieved and to mitigate risk.
  • Develop and maintain: Pre-construction schedule, baseline construction schedule, procurement schedule, commissioning schedule.
  • Performance reviews - Conduct in timely manner, quality of feedback, provide guidance in creating development plans, proper follow-up and next steps.
  • Communicate schedule and challenges effectively to the Client, subcontractors and project stakeholders.
  • Internal Project Reviews (IPR) - Ability to adequately complete reports templates, conduct and assess.
  • Assist in negotiation of claims/disputes with the owner and subs/suppliers.
  • Participate in hiring and assigning of project teams.
  • Ensure project safety standards and environmental programs are adhered to at all times.

Other Responsibilities

  • Coaching and development of the team.
  • Demonstrate ability to provide frequent and constructive feedback to direct reports (both positive and negative).
  • Active in the industry by Networking and participating in events, etc.

Is this the right role for you?

  • 10+ years supervisory or equivalent experience in construction
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods); company policies, procedures and standards, union jurisdiction, labor agreements and negotiations essential
  • Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory and planning skills required
  • Negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Residential experience would be considered an asset.
  • PMP designation would be considered an asset.
