We are looking for an Environmental Analyst to join our Safety & Environment team. Reporting to the Environment & Climate Change Specialist, you will join a team of professionals at our Downtown Halifax location where we offer you a hybrid work option.


Key elements of this role include:

  • Oversee the gathering, compilation, and quality assurance of various health, safety, and environment (HSE) and sustainability performance data from Emera’s affiliates, which is utilized by the team to support various HSE and Sustainability reporting/disclosure programs. As well as assist the team to enhance the gathering and digitization of these data sources.
  • Assist the team with preparing Emera’s voluntary Sustainability disclosures, such as, but not limited to Emera’s Sustainability Report, Emera’s Climate Transition Plan, Emera’s CDP Climate Change Submission, and various Performance Tables.
  • Assist the team with preparedness for upcoming mandatory disclosures of sustainability related financial information and climate related data, and in completing annual mandatory disclosures once the mandatory disclosure rules have been finalized.
  • Assess and determine how various Sustainability and related disclosure initiatives are evolving and provide advice on developing/improving programs to address identified gaps and opportunities.

  • Provide relevant expertise in environmental topic areas of climate, air, water, chemical and waste management to make certain that environmental management systems remain robust and able to adapt to emerging risk.
  • Assist in the preparation of various internal/external reports and communication such as legislative updates, progress on Emera’s Climate Commitment, responding to Sustainability Rating Agency and Investor information requests and environmental performance reports to the Emera Executive and Emera’s Board.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program within the Science, Engineering, Communications or Commerce disciplines and have five (5) years or more of demonstrated experience in Sustainability or environmental areas.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple initiatives.
  • Capable of collaborating across various corporate teams, and geographic areas, to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Electricity or Gas utility (or equivalent) experience is considered an asset.

A valid driver’s license is required. Travel to Emera locations will be a necessary part of the successful candidate’s work routine.
