The Maintenance Manager will provide leadership and direction to the maintenance supervisors. They are accountable for schedule compliance, cost control and contractor management. The Manager will perform regular inspections and audits to ensure the equipment's health. They will ensure that their team achieves all safety performances and adheres to all department processes.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership:
    • Establishes performance goals for supervisors in consultation with the Maintenance Director and the Reliability Manager.
    • Provides direct support to Supervisors to help them achieve or exceed department goals.
  • Operations:
    • Schedule compliance.
    • Cost Control.
    • Contractor management.
  • Equipment Performance:
    • Performs regular inspections of areas of responsibility to ensure equipment is functioning properly.
    • Reviews crew activities to ensure compliance.
  • Reporting:
    • Collects and reviews provided data.
    • Analyses data.
    • Makes recommendations.
    • Provides input for Key Performance Indicators.
  • Maintenance trades are adequately trained and equipped:
    • Ensures training records for tradespersons.
    • Verifies maintenance activities to ensure appropriate tooling and equipment is available.
  • Safety Compliance:
    • Ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures.
    • Reviews safety policies and procedures with Supervisors and tradespersons.
    • Performs field audits to confirm compliance.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge - education, certificates, licenses, registration, and knowledge required
    • Trade certification, college diploma, or degree is required (industrial electrician, industrial mechanic, heavy duty mechanic, and instrumentation technician; or electrical, mechanical, mobile equipment, or instrumentation discipline). Preference given to candidates with multiple disciplines.
    • Strong proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, excel, and spreadsheets.
    • Proactively stays on top of industry and business trends that relate to my area of specialty.
  • Technical Skills - required skills to apply knowledge
    • Preference given to a candidate who have the following skills: Project Management Professional, vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared thermography, acoustic emissions, electrical equipment testing, non-destructive testing, online equipment monitoring, power generation, and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.
    • Must have the ability to work effectively with Computerized Maintenance Management System. Proficiency with JD Edwards (E1) would be an advantage.
    • Preference given to a candidate who has maintenance planning and scheduling experience.
    • It is necessary that the candidate have well developed and demonstrated troubleshooting skills.
  • Social Process Skills - required skills for effective working relationships
    • Maintenance supervisory/manager experience in an industrial setting (electrical, mechanical, mobile, instrumentation, facilities, and reliability). Preference given to a candidate who has supervised multiple skills from the list above.
    • Has an in-depth understanding of customer needs and uses it to consistently meet customer expectations.
    • It is necessary that the candidate have well developed and demonstrated leadership skills.
    • Implements change initiatives and effectively influence others to drive commitment.
    • Consistently provides relevant information and expertise that adds value to the work of others.
