This role is accountable for the management and delivery of projects such as new building construction power planning, managing capital spend for generators &UPS systems and equipment monitoring. This position plays a leadership role within Eastlink, championing initiatives within the team, and working with other departments to deliver against the priorities of the organization. The Senior Capital Project Manager is responsible for projects of various sizes and will be comfortable leading teams, both direct reports and cross functional team, or working independently on projects of various complexities. There is approximately a 90/10 split between time working in an office environment and in a field and operating environment. Working in the office involves planning, scheduling, analysis, and problem solving. Working in the field involves traveling to all facilities, inspecting & auditing, managing contractors, project oversight, meeting with customers and problem solving.

Responsibilities:

  • Capital projects and Cost Management - Develops a multi-year asset management plan for electrical systems. Develops budget estimates and manages capital investment programs nationally that ensure capital investments are smart, appropriately timed, and affordable.
  • Network Resilience - Monitor, report and identify priority areas for building systems such as: Generators, UPSs, DC plants, equipment monitoring, electrical single line diagrams, cutovers, and arc flash. Supports electrical regulatory compliance.
  • Contractor Management - Executes Capital work plan through providing project portfolio management, direct project management, supervision of contactors and contractor management of outsourced project management work, contract administration, cost management and stewardship reporting.
  • Problem Solving - Developing cost effective solutions to business issues through problem solving, technical analysis, cost analysis, risk analysis and business case preparation.
  • Business Priority Alignment - Collaborate with the business groups to Engineering, Operations and Business Sales to ensure early awareness of changes to business needs and initiatives that will require Facilities support and investments.
  • Improvement and Efficiency - Contribute to the development of departmental processes and methodologies which will enable superior customer service and quality services.

Requirements:

  • Post secondary degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.)
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, excellent communication skills.
  • Experience with electrical systems planning for load growth and reliability, measurement and monitoring of load consumption, energy conservation and efficiency
  • Experience managing a portfolio of projects through project managers
  • Strong experience using spreadsheets, MS Word, and computer maintenance management software (Excel, Word, CMMS)
  • Good understanding of electrical code, specific experience with generators, power supplies, and equipment monitoring, proven leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and energize teams
  • Strong analytical background with a solid grasp of business and technical processes, experience managing projects and complex initiatives through to successful completion
  • The incumbent will have highly developed communication skills and will be highly adept at managing issues and risks, as well as identifying opportunities.
