We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Power Generation team. Reporting to the Asset Management Power Production Risk and Reliability Manager you will join a team of dedicated professionals at our Halifax location.


Key elements of this role include:

  • Support Power Production plants with technical expertise on generators, excitation systems, switchgear, breakers and development of procedures.
  • Identify test requirements and intervals for major electrical equipment in Power Production plants.
  • Review results of electrical equipment testing including generators, isolated phase bus duct systems, motors, etc.
  • Provide engineering support to the capital program for new technologies, replacement of obsolete equipment, protection upgrades, etc.
  • Provide support during maintenance outages, unplanned outages and troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • Provide technical advice to thermal plant personnel as required.

To thrive in this role, you recognize yourself in most of the following competencies and skills listed below:

  • Registered, or eligible for registration with Engineers Nova Scotia.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years experience in an industrial environment with preference to a generating environment.
  • Experience in leading major capital projects for replacement or refurbishment of industrial electrical equipment or control systems.
  • Experience around generator maintenance, industrial electrical equipment overhauls, excitation systems, medium and low voltage switchgear and control system considered an asset
