As a Team Lead in Production Engineering, you will be a key contributor to the production engineering department. You will oversee a group of engineers/technologists who provide engineering support for our production team for specific area of the build. You will work closely with other departments, including Production, Planning, Supply Chain, and other engineering groups, to ensure our production team can be successful based on the ship design information. You will be responsible for coordination and assignment of engineering tasks, and attending meetings related to your area on behalf of the production engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Support team members with technical oversight, tasking/priorities, goal setting, check-ins, and carer development
  • Lead people & projects while making formal decisions with minimal oversight
  • Managing, driving and/or executing assigned tasks, activities, or deliverables within the Production Engineering Group as required
  • Provide technical input to influence business decisions on build methods and strategy
  • Manage schedule and deliverables for Production Engineering team responsible for lifting and handling plans, jigs/fixtures/tooling design, and temporary services engineering for AOPS CCGV, River Class Destroyer, and Ship Repair programs
  • Engage with internal business stakeholders including Production, Planning, Facilities, Platform/Combat Engineering, Scheduling, and Supply Chain as a main point of contact for PE functions above
  • Primary Liaison between Engineering & Production

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in engineering in relevant discipline required
    • P. Eng, MBA, or PMP considered to be a strong asset
    • Eligibility for membership with Engineers Nova Scotia as a Professional Engineer
    • Continuous Improvement certification an asset (yellow, green belt)
  • Experience:
    • 8 years of experience in shipbuilding environment
    • Ability to navigate shipbuilding production drawings, PBOM, and 3D model required
    • Applied experience with exposure to hull/machinery/accommodation piping, electrical outfitting, and / or steel outfitting.
    • Strong understanding of Shipbuilding production, planning, material requirements, facility / resource capacity
    • Comfortable in a dynamic environment with multiple stakeholders and able to navigate changing organizational structure and multiple ongoing programs
    • High proficiency with AutoCad (2D/3D), MS Office suite of software and Adobe Pro

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
