About the Opportunity

Reporting to the OHSW Manager, Workers Compensation Board (WCB) Advisor is responsible for providing case services to high-risk WCB claims and acts as a liaison between the employer, treatment providers and the Workers Compensation Board. The WCB Advisor reviews incident report information and when required co-ordinates referrals of employees to external treatment providers, including completion of electronic WCB employer injury reports and providing case management and return to work coordination of high-risk claims. The WCB advisor also provides support and return to work recommendations to NSH Managers & Supervisors. The WCB advisor also promotes the development and expansion of OHSW programming. They follow OHSW policies based on industry and best practice standards.

About You

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Post-secondary degree in a health related field (Nursing, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology or Occupational therapy preferred)
  • Completion of an appropriate and/or working towards credentials in the fields of Disability Management, Occupational Health & Safety and or Adult Education with completion of these credentials within a time frame established by the Manager.
  • Current membership in good standing with relevant professional college
  • Demonstrated computer skills - proficient with database, presentation, word processing, and statistical analysis software & internet
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships
  • Research analytical and problem solving skills
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of healthcare issues and case management trends/best practices
  • Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated presentation and adult education skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with all staff of a complex organization
  • Previous experience in the development and implementation of an Occupational Health and Safety Management System in a large complex organization a definite asset
  • Knowledge and demonstrated competence in all disciplines of OH&S legislation and applicable Acts, Codes, Regulations and industry best practices
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code,etc.).

Hours

  • Permanent, Full-time position; 75 hours biweekly

Compensation and Benefits

$28.60 - $35.75 Hourly
