ISI is seeking a Welding Technician. The Welding Technician (VRWP) will be responsible taking the design model data and defining the robotic weld sequence on the VRWP. They will work with Welding Engineers/Specialists to develop optimal sequences to minimize distortion.
This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. The primary language of work is English. Qualifications:
- Education: Red Seal in Welding or Technical Diploma in relevant subject or similar
- Experience: 5+ of Shipbuilding experience.
- Experience of technical design with a focus on development or use of engineering data for automation being desirable
- Proficient in the use of CAD packages, ideally 3D
- Strong working knowledge of MS Office suite, SharePoint, ability to independently learn to operate new technical software packages
- ASNT Level II in Visual Inspection or similar desirable.
- Understanding of the GMAW/FCAW welding processes
- Shipbuilding / Manufacturing Knowledge related to welding
- Demonstrate knowledge relating practical aspects of welding and inspection
- Ability to read and understand specifications and structural and outfit drawings
- Technical Communication and Influencing Skills
- Ability to communicate technical information in accessible format
- Organizational skills
All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
