The Shubenacadie Wildlife Park is one of Nova Scotia's top tourist destinations and has attracted millions of visitors over the past 70 years. The 331-hectare park has enchanted Nova Scotians and visitors alike and provides a wide range of outdoor recreational and educational opportunities.

We are seeking a summer student to work in this area:
General maintenance (1 position): assist staff in the seasonal maintenance of Park grounds, including buildings, trails, vehicles, equipment and includes such tasks as mowing, whipper snipping, painting, janitorial duties such as cleaning washrooms and garbage collection. Other duties may include assisting with animal care. You will report to the Maintenance Supervisor.
You are a high school, college or university student who is returning to study in the Fall of 2025.
You are well organized and capable of working in a team environment and/or independently. You must be a self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision while demonstrating good judgment. You should also have experience in general maintenance practices such as mowing and painting and be familiar with basic repairs of related equipment.
You must be capable of lifting articles weighing up to 25 kg. As the park operates 7 days a week, flexibility to work shifts that include longer days and some weekends is also required. WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System) training, a Standard/Intermediate First Aid Certificate and a Class 5 driver's licence would be assets.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks
This is a summer student position with an expected end day of August 31, 2025. Your rate of pay is established based on your current academic level. Proof of academic enrollment may be required. Employment is for up to 10 weeks.
Pay Grade: HOURLY
Salary Range: $15.73 - $29.69 Hourly
