Det'on Cho Environmental Scholarship

In encouraging students to excel in higher levels of education in the Environmental and Social Sciences field, Det’on Cho Environmental is offering two (2) $1000.00 scholarships to full-time students, and one (1) $500 scholarship to part-time students/training program participants who are enrolled in the 2024/2025 school year. It is open to all Northern Indigenous students who are under an Impact Beneficiary Agreement.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:

• NWT Resident
• Awarded to Indigenous students who are Impact Beneficiary Agreement Holders. Priority will be given to Yellowknives Dene First Nation Members
• Enrolled in a fully accredited post-secondary program or training in the Environmental or Social Sciences field with an interest in Environmental Management, Monitoring, Conservation, Reclamation, Guardianship, or Indigenous/Traditional Knowledge research.
• A training program in a relevant field can take place in Fall 2024 (September-December) or Winter 2025 (January-April)

STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR SUBMITTING THE FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS:

• Letter of Interest or Video Submission outlining education and career goals. (min. 500 words or 2 min video)
• Mailing Address, where if successful the funds should be forwarded.
• Two letters of reference.
• Proof of Beneficiary (copy of Indian status card)
• Proof of Residency (copy of NT Health Care Card)
• Copy of acceptance letter from post-secondary institution (if first year student)
• OR proof of registration for the coming year (2^nd year students or higher)
• Copy of official transcripts (must have official stamp visible and signed)
