Reporting to the Safety and Training Manager, the Safety Supervisor will ensure compliance with applicable legislation, company standards, and continuous improvement with a focus on Safety.

Salary: $55,000 - $65,000

Responsibilities

  • As required, lead and/or assist with the completion of workplace incident investigations and determination of root cause.
  • Facilitate task-based risk assessments and assist with monitoring compliance.
  • Follow up and ensure actions plans related to workplace incidents are assigned and completed.
  • Be the point of contact for provincial Occupational Health Safety and / or third part auditors.
  • Develop, coordinate and manage the project charters for various safety projects.
  • Prioritize the various safety and training projects.
  • Facilitate the training associated with new safety procedures and programs.
  • Be responsible for the proper safety and training documentation.
  • Deliver progress reports and presentations on the various safety projects and training initiatives under way.
  • Work as a resource for the site Occupational Health and Safety Committee.
  • Provide leadership to the site Medical First Responder Unit and Fire Brigade.

Qualifications

  • Engineering, Business Degree, Technical Designation, or equivalent experience in Health & Safety
  • Experience in Training and Project Management.
  • Health and Safety background with experience conducting Root Cause Incident Investigations, Hazard Assessments, developing JSA’s, SOP’s and Safety Training Programs would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge with Working at Heights, Confined Space Entry and Lockout Tagout programs would be considered an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage team members and other stakeholders.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft products as well as online SDS management systems and incident reporting and tracking systems.
  • Be willing to work towards completion of a certificate program in Occupational Health and Safety.
