The Opportunity

Our Construction Management & Inspection (CM&I) Pipe - Central/Eastern team is seeking a Construction Manager to join our team based in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario or Quebec.

Reporting to the Manager, CM&I ML & ILI, the Construction Manager provides supervision and contractor oversight to inspectors and contractors performing Maintenance, Integrity & New Construction projects on Canadian Facilities across the Country, mostly in Central & Eastern Canada.

What you'll do

  • Provide input to Project Managers on constructability, schedule, and cost estimates to support the efficient planning & execution of various Facility projects (Compressor Stations, Meter Stations, Valve Yards, etc.).
  • Communicate and collaborate frequently with Manager, Resource Coordinator, peer Construction Managers, Regional Construction Managers, Project Managers, and Inspectors to drive safe and efficient project execution.
  • Ensure implementation early on of the Project Delivery Standard (PDS) requirements which support the alignment of project execution requirements with TC Energy Operational Management System (TOMS) requirements.
  • Lead by example in the application of the TC safety culture and best practices of processes and procedures.
  • Ensure all Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality commitments are being carried out.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve process efficiency and reduce project life cycle costs.
  • Work closely with peer Construction Managers to drive collaboration, consistency and communication with project and construction teams.
  • Provide mentorship and coaching to Jr. Construction Managers, Assistant Construction Managers, and other field-level Inspection and Administration staff.
  • Participate in any post-project investigations related to safety incidents, lessons learned, Opportunities For Improvement (OFI) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR's).
  • Oversee the inspection staff to ensure construction complies to drawings, specifications, codes, standards, regulations, and contractors' site-specific quality plan/contract.
  • Create and foster a collaborative work environment and a proactive/mature safety culture with the inspection staff.
  • Using stop work authority, will immediately stop work activity, and notify Contractor supervision of unsafe conditions and/or acts and ensure all site personnel are aware of their obligation to do so as well.
  • Possibility of short / long term field assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of directly related Construction Management, Chief Inspector and/or Superintendent experience with Facilities projects.
  • Strong construction supervision/management skills.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Valid API 1169 Pipeline Inspector Essentials Certification.
  • Valid API 1184 Pipeline Facility Construction Inspector Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Physically reside in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario or Quebec on or before the first day of work.
  • Technical trades certification or Post Secondary Diploma in a related field.
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching and motivational skills within a construction environment.
  • Proven time management, organizational and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage conflict.
  • ASP Construction (Quebec) Certification.
  • Bilingual (English & French).

This position requires candidates to:

  • The regular work schedule will be 17&4 (15 working days, 1 travel day, 4 days off, 1 travel day) or 6&1 (6 working day and 1 day off). Occasional deviation from this schedule may be required.
  • Have and maintain a valid class 5 driver's license and provide a driver's abstract for review.
  • Criminal record check?
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, to include drug and alcohol testing.
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up to 90% of work schedule).
  • Stay overnight away from home base (estimated up to 90% of work schedule).
