We are seeking an experienced Transformer Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. With over 40 years of operations experience in the utility industry, Cam Tran is highly depended upon by most major Canadian Electrical Utility Companies as a primary supplier for the essential power service. We were recently acquired by Central Moloney, Inc. CMI is an ISO 9001 certified company, manufacturing distribution transformers and transformer components.

Job Description:

As a Transformer Electrical Design Engineer, you will use your extensive experience in electrical design and transformer manufacturing to develop and optimize oil filled transformer designs for our projects. This position could potentially be Fully Remote or Hybrid, but the ideal candidate should be available to undergo a 1-2 week on-site training period at the beginning of the role, with the training period spanning 2-3 months.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Thoroughly review customer specifications to ensure products meet applicable national standards (CSA , IEEE)
  • Preform the electrical design of multiple transformer product lines
  • Ensures schedule compliance by interacting with the customer, internal teams and vendors (tender review, quotes and contract review; electrical or design and process planning development)
  • Analyze and measure impedance of electrical flow using engineering software while working closely with mechanical designers and other members of various teams including production and quality control departments.
  • Contribute to root cause analysis of electrical failures
  • Prepare review, modify and approve electrical drawings and bill of materials
  • Prepare technical quotations
  • Answers all enquiries on the technical aspects of transformers from customers, production team

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in electrical engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical design of medium or high voltage products similar to distribution transformers
  • Experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Solid Edge and 3D Modeling and Design Software is considered an asset
  • Computer programming would also be an asset.
  • Proficient in the interpretation and application of relevant national and international standards including CSA IEEE, ANSI.
