Job Description Summary

The Technical Parts Specialist will be responsible for technical support for our Nuclear segment flow parts and will drive definition for the item master within the parts organization. You will work in a hybrid capacity with onsite days in the Pickering warehouse. On site work will encompass physically inspecting parts to ensure they meet ordered specifications, signing documentation to release parts, arranging third party inspections, and uploading documentation. Work from home will consist of reviewing parts requests from parts teams and the preparation (identification) of spare parts packages taking into account the current Enterprise Product Data Management (EPDM) system change status and the specific customer requirements. Creation of parts and structures for production orders in EPDM, assigning inspection plans, identification/suggestion of vendor/manufacturer, and creation and maintenance of master data maintenance in PowerMax (SAP) or EPDM.

This position will work 25% onsite at our warehouse and 75% remote work.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Drive engineering growth initiatives within Parts organization
  • Provide engineering support to the Canada parts teams
  • Verify applicability and fit of critical customer requests to turbine application
  • Perform Interchangeability and form / fit / function reviews on flow part requests
  • Provide technical support to internal and external customers in support of sales initiatives
  • Identify newly created part numbers and accurately complete engineering part definition attributes in a timely manner
  • Maintain engineering part definition attributes required to process requests for parts
  • Contact qualified Vendors in order to identify and / or validate part definition, price and availability
  • Responsible for accuracy and speed of technical responsiveness
  • Improving key operational metrics including (quote and order cycle time reduction, accuracy, record updates, and customer information requests)

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Engineering, with 3+ years of experience in a Engineering or Quality Control support function; or, High School Diploma / GED with 7+ years of relevant experience.

Desired Characteristics

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
  • Familiarity with Bill of Material (BOM) structures
  • Experience with PLM, Enterprise Product Data Management or similar engineering database (TeamCenter an asset)
  • Experience with OPGs AS9 System an asset
  • Experience with Ariba
  • Experience with SAP
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Proficiency in Writing / Speaking / Reading in English
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment
