The Maintenance Manager is a critical role within our communities as it impacts the lives of residents through the strong leadership and motivation of Sienna team members.
As a Maintenance Manager your typical day will impact in the following ways:
• Planning, co-ordinating, directing and monitoring the effectiveness of all operational activities within the maintenance department.
• Planning, organizing, directing and supervising department team members to perform proper general, routine maintenance, minor repairs, fire safety, and scheduled servicing operations to maintain the Long Term Care Community/Retirement Residence in a safe manner.
• Determining scope of work, receiving cost estimates and referring problems requiring specialized work such as electrical or plumbing to outside contractors and monitors work performed.
• Leading an effective recruitment, orientation, and performance management process in accordance with the organization standards for all team members within the department.
• Managing and monitoring all expenditures, explains monthly variances and works with the Executive Director/General Manager to identity corrective action.
• Performing other duties as assigned.
Must haves:
• Relevant post-secondary diploma from a community college such as Building Systems.
• A minimum of 3 years' management experience.
• Health and Safety Certification (level 1 and 2).
• Knowledge of HVAC equipment, computerized building management systems, electrical systems distribution, fire alarm and sprinkler systems including operation of and testing requirements, emergency diesel generator operations, etc.
• Ability to read and interpret building prints and drawings.
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check. Applicable to Ontario applicants.
• All applicants must successfully pass the prescribed Criminal Records Check. Applicable to British Columbia applicants.
Bonus points for having:
• WHMIS training considered an asset.
• Experience in a Care Community and/or Retirement Residence preferred.
