Who we're looking for:

We are seeking a highly skilled Optical Engineer with a strong focus on software integration to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of optical networking, planning and design software integrations, industry standards and protocols including DOCSIS, Optical planning and design technologies ie MPLS, EVPN and EoC

What you'll do:

  • Support the Design and planning teams by working closely to implement vendor solutions to build and support optical networks
  • Understanding compliance with TMF and MEF standards in all solutions
  • Work with protocols such as MPLS, EVPN, EoC, and DOCSIS to develop and maintain efficient optical networks
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of optical technologies
  • Perform testing, validation, and troubleshooting of optical network design and planning tools for User acceptance
  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technological advancements in optical engineering and software integration

What you bring:

  • 5+ years of technical experience in a technology focused company
  • Proven experience in optical engineering with a focus on software integration
  • Strong English communication and collaborative skills, able to deliver presentations to various audiences
  • Strong understanding of TMF and MEF standards
  • Experience in SQL / Oracle DB, REST interfaces and API integrations
  • Proficient in technologies such as MPLS, EVPN, EoC, and DOCSIS
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Core Competencies: Concise verbal and written communication, Individual Accountability, Teamwork and Collaboration, Adaptability and a self-starter type individual willing to challenge the status quo for continuous improvement
  • Working experience in design tools such as Blue Planet Inventory, Netcracker Resource Inventory, Amdocs Resource Manager or similar inventory tools
  • Technology Competencies: Inventory tools, IP address management Solutions, Web Services, XML. Transport Networks (Optical / Microwave)
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Experience with a major MSO and involvement in building large communications networks. (Wireline or Wireless) considered an asset


Preferred Skills

  • Telecom Domain knowledge in the following: OTN, Sonet, IP-RAN, Mobile Backhaul, Fronthaul, IP, IP/MPLS, EVPN, EoC, Carrier Services, etc.
  • Good Understanding of Cloud and Automation technologies
  • Good Hands-on experience on Transmission/Optical equipment of Major Vendors such as Ericsson, Nokia, Fujitsu, CISCO, Ciena, Ribbon
  • Good working knowledge of NMS and EMS provisioning and Fault Management systems
  • Experience with network automation and orchestration tools
  • Familiarity with network security principles and practices
  • Certification in network engineering or related fields
