Job Title: Director of Industrial Processes

Location: Colborne, ON


Position Description:


This role is part of Industrial Processes which is comprised of Industrial Engineering, Processes and Methods, and Maintenance. The focus includes making the production process safe, environmentally compliant, inclusive, productive, and competitive, while delivering excellence in quality to our customers.


As the Director of Industrial Processes, you will be responsible for managing a coordinated manufacturing system and enhancing innovative manufacturing processes to design and manufacture distribution transformers. Partnering with manufacturing and facilities, you will lead this process and gather the manufacturing and facility needs, apply Lean techniques, and create meaningful foundations for high-efficiency manufacturing processes. Collaborating with automation partners, process engineers, design and analysis engineers, machine and process operators, enterprise tool developers, equipment, and material vendors, you will identify requirements and opportunities for data, tools, equipment, and workflow. This position will directly impact the history of producing transformers and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safety, quality, lead-time, inventory, and productivity, all while bringing innovation in a timely and feasible matter.


Responsibilities:


  • Manage manufacturing-related projects
  • Provide production support - scheduling, theory of constraint, budget & forecast, crew empowerment, defect analysis, core proficiency definition, make/buy evaluation, benchmarking analysis.
  • Identify and prioritize process improvement projects - lean manufacturing, engineering economic analysis, process mapping, root cause analysis, statistical methods, six sigma and time studies.
  • Lead operations improvement - ergonomic & human factor, operations plans, recovery planning, volume planning, and capital planning.
  • Facilitate system integration - Value Stream Analysis, Facility Layouts, Production Systems Design, Manufacturing Process Design, Systems Thinking, Facilities Planning, and Requirements.
  • Manage CAPEX, Cost Out, industrial maintenance, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee the collection of data to increase standardization and evaluate workflows to improve safety and efficiency.


Qualifications:


  • BS in Industrial, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification
  • 5+ years of experience working directly with manufacturing in a production environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in manufacturing and/or facilities planning.
  • Factory flow, process modeling and simulations experience
  • Experience leading continuous improvement and value stream mapping events. • Strong analytic skills and a high degree of proficiency in analytics.
  • Exceptional with Excel and manual data analysis
  • Excellent Interpersonal Communication Skills and Self-Starter

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Operations Management, Construction Management, MSE and/or MBA
  • Transformer Manufacturing Experience
  • Project Management Certification (PMP)
  • Six Sigma Black Belt Certification
  • Experience transitioning development to production
  • Strong teaming skills
  • Experience with manufacturing organizations and/or supply chain
  • Hands-on experience with materials and manufacturing processes
