Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Lift Mechanic Lead, the Lift Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repairs of lifts, as well as various equipment and machinery.

  • Responsible and accountable for all repairs and maintenance on aerial and surface lift installations, including fixed grip chairlifts, and conveyor lifts
  • Document all inspections, maintenance tasks, and repairs using our in-house suite of apps to ensure good record keeping
  • Ensure all lifts are maintained to code, TSSA standards and manufacturer's recommendations
  • Conduct opening and closing inspections of the lifts during any days of operation
  • Troubleshoot issues with lifts and other equipment, determining when a lift needs to be suspended or shut down, while ensuring minimal downtime where possible
  • Responsible and accountable for all repairs and maintenance on our fleet of snow groomers including regular maintenance at manufacturer prescribed intervals, and repairs where needed
  • Provide recommendations for ongoing maintenance of lifts and equipment
  • Assist in emergency situations including but not limited to chairlift evacuations via electrical bypass, evacuation drive, or manual rope evacuation.
  • Work in accordance with Conservation Halton's Safety Policy and Procedures and in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations
  • Assist with other area maintenance activities such as: snowmaking, grooming, winter maintenance and general repairs and cleanups
  • Act as Day Manager during the winter season at Glen Eden, assisting customers and staff with inquiries

Your Qualifications

  • SLM-B Certificate or SLM-T license with a reasonable amount of completion of the skills passport may be considered depending on other skill sets
  • Minimum 4 years experience in lift operations, grooming, or snowmaking
  • Knowledge of the Z98 code, Code Adoption Document, as well as Provincial and TSSA Regulations
  • Technical aptitude including knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, as well as basic vehicle repairs.
  • Ability to operate snow groomers, snowmobiles, tractors, and other equipment
  • Ability to engage, and follow through with work plans on Microsoft Teams
  • Able to climb and work at heights reaching or exceeding 50 feet and work well in a variety of outdoor conditions
  • Fall arrest training, WHMIS, and first aid certificates are an asset.
  • Lift Evacuation training and experience
  • A valid Ontario Drivers Licence, minimum Class "G2", with a satisfactory Driver's Abstract is required. *Abstract completed by Conservation Halton.
