The Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing and enhancing product quality across all stages—from supplier components through internal production processes to customer satisfaction. This role involves managing supplier relationships, ensuring production quality, and acting as a liaison to resolve customer quality issues. The Quality Engineer is expected to conduct audits, implement corrective actions, and lead quality improvement initiatives to meet company standards and exceed customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the resolution of customer complaints related to product quality, identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive measures
  • Conduct on-site quality audits and inspections to assess product performance and compliance with industry standards
  • Oversee calibration program including outsourcing to 3rd parties
  • Analyze quality data and quality improvement initiatives to identify trends and prepare reporting to management
  • Lead cross-functional teams in the analysis of failure modes, effects, and criticality to improve product reliability and performance
  • Facilitate communication between customers and internal teams, ensuring a clear understanding of technical issues and solutions
  • Participate in the development and revision of quality standards, procedures, and documentation to enhance overall product quality
  • Collaborate with suppliers to monitor and improve the incoming parts quality
  • Train departments on quality driven procedures and maintain documentation/records of training
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, standards, and regulations related to distribution transformer quality and performance
What You Bring to the Role:
  • Safe Work Standards/Job Instructions able to train and audit
  • Experience with Quality control tools and techniques - Six Sigma preferred
  • Experience calibrating measuring devices such as meters, gauges, computers, calipers, and other measuring instruments required
  • Strong analytical
  • Microsoft Office/Record Retention
  • Technical certificate in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Assurance, or related technical field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Quality Engineering - candidates with experience in the distribution transformer industry or related electrical equipment in manufacturing are considered an asset
  • Experience in handling customer complaints, conducting field quality assessments, and implementing corrective action
  • Experience with quality systems and ISO certification
  • Experience with CSA, IEEE, ANSI and IEC transformer standards is considered an asset
  • Knowledge of PPAP, APQP, FMEA etc.
  • Availability to travel to customer sites as needed
