Job Description
Job Title: Quality Inspector
Department: Quality
Work Location: 801 & 845
Reports to: Quality Engineer
Job Summary:
Quality Inspectors are responsible for verifying the quality of incoming/outgoing material and finished goods to ensure Client satisfaction.
Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Support Quality Initiatives and assist in the implementation
  • Understand and identify steel defects
  • Generate Quality Alerts for client driven or internal quality issues
  • Continually monitor Production personnel to ensure compliance with Client Requirements (Work Order/drawings) and JFE Shoji Power Canada Standards
  • Inspects and approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials
  • Inspects in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, communicating required adjustments to Shift Leader
  • Approves finished products (Final Inspection) by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and approving rework processes
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizes re-work and waste, and inputs data into quality database
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions and calibration requirements and calling for repairs
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations
  • Ensure Shop Floor Personnel (including Maintenance) adheres to proper handling of non-conforming product
  • Issue Quality Alerts and communicate to Production floor (includes obtaining signatures for acknowledgment).
  • New document implementation and training (including sign off from Production)
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed
  • Develop and Support Continuous Improvement Ideas to improve process/procedures
  • Support Quality/Production with root cause investigations for client concerns

Quality Knowledge Requirements:
  • Safe Work Standards/Job Instructions able to Train/Audit
  • One to two years' quality inspector experience an asset
  • Experience with quality control techniques such as Six Sigma preferred
  • Experience with measuring devices such as meters, gauges, computers, calipers, and other measuring instruments
  • Analytic skills
  • Documentation skills
Qualifications:
  • Must be able to read and interpret shop drawings
  • Strong math and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Experience with Microsoft office package
  • Detail oriented
  • Quality system knowledge proficiency
  • Self starter with strong sense of responsibility and a Team Player
  • Integrity, honesty, and dedication to people centric leadership
JSC Working Conditions:
The employee is required to always wear personal protective equipment. An employee must work rotating shifts. The physical demands of the job involve repetitive movement as well as standing for long periods of time.
