Your Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Landscape Restoration, and working closely with the Project Manager, Design and Restoration Services, this position is responsible for implementing restoration and enhancement projects and to provide support for the planning, coordination, and development of restoration/enhancement projects.

  • Project management oversight and execution of multiple small- to large-scale restoration projects.
  • Support the preparation of various project correspondence including project briefs and backgrounders, external communications, and reports of a general and technical nature.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of biophysical information, including habitat assessments and restoration opportunities.
  • Assist in the preparation of maps/reports on technical and/or field conditions.
  • Liaise with the landowners, staff of other agencies, and the public, as required.
  • Review and interpret engineering and restoration design drawings and specifications and work with project managers and team to ensure the projects are implemented in accordance with the plan design.
  • Complete pre-field planning for projects (i.e., safety planning, mapping preparation, equipment calibration) following matrix standards.
  • Review background data including agency liaison to determine Species at Risk (SAR) and environmental constraints compliance with plan design, health and safety, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Review field data and prepare reports and technical memorandums.
  • Oversee construction activities to ensure quality control, proper restoration techniques and best management practices, proper site preparation and site management, and site monitoring and follow-up.
  • Track progress of projects; support development of story maps and other reporting tools.
  • Participate in landowner outreach and education workshops and events.

Your Qualifications

  • University Degree and/or post-secondary education in Ecosystem Restoration, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Ecology, Physical Geography, or related program
  • 3+ years' experience managing and implementing watercourse and ecological restoration projects
  • Training and experience in resource management principals, project management and application of project management tools and techniques
  • Experience in project design, implementation, compliance, monitoring
  • Experience in risk management, contractor and consultant on-site management, and equipment operation
  • Experience in effectively communicating technical information verbally and in writing to diverse audiences
  • Supervisory and technical on-the-ground training experience of staff
  • Working knowledge of work planning, procedure development, and guideline writing
  • Ability to work with computer software and administrative systems in a Windows environment (e.g., file maintenance; word processing; presentation and GIS software; computerized spreadsheet applications; data bases, information input and retrieval, etc.)
  • Experience in leading, coaching, and motivating teams
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple projects and restoration sites
  • Completed, or required credentials completed to obtain Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner designation.
