P&H Milling

P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company. The P&H Milling Group sources wheat from Western Canada, Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada to produce quality flour and cereal products. The lineup includes hard red spring wheat flour for breads and other bakery products, soft winter wheat flour for cakes and cookies, as well as semolina flour for pasta, organic flour, and atta flour for chappati. In our specialty milling operation in Saskatoon, we also mill pea fractions.

Your Role

Reporting to the Director, Quality Assurance, the FSQA Manager will drive initiatives through direct support with Corporate and Manufacturing Sites, by providing subject matter expertise, guidance and tools to promote continuous improvement efforts across all departments as well as with customers and suppliers.

Day to Day

  • Lead and manage FSQA-driven continuous improvement projects across all departments, ensuring ongoing compliance and efficiency
  • Develop, implement, and maintain national quality management systems to meet GFSI (BRCGS) standards and regulatory requirements
  • Review and manage food safety programs, including pest control, foreign material prevention, and traceability, while providing corrective actions as needed
  • Develop, standardize, and maintain QA procedures, testing methods, lab equipment calibration, and documentation such as Certificates of Analysis (COA)
  • Provide oversight and support to plant-level QA teams to ensure standardized food safety practices and compliance across sites
  • Analyze quality data, track trends, and report results to identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective actions
  • Oversee internal and external audits, ensuring effective CAPA plans are in place and successfully executed
  • Act as the primary point of contact for food safety, regulatory compliance, and quality concerns with CFIA, FDA, and other stakeholders
  • Manage company-wide FSQA training programs, ensuring staff are well-informed and compliant with regulations
  • Lead efforts for compliance with product labeling, promotional materials, and packaging requirements across domestic and international markets
  • Support cross-functional teams in ensuring food safety and regulatory compliance throughout the product lifecycle
  • Maintain and update regulatory files, prepare documentation for submissions and renewals, and review labels for compliance with applicable standards

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in FSQA within food manufacturing
  • This position includes both fieldwork and office-based tasks
    • Travel required, approximately 2-3 times per year, per mill for inspections
  • Certifications in PCQI, HACCP, and Internal Auditor are an asset
  • Strong knowledge of BRCGS standards and food safety regulations
  • Project management and Six Sigma certifications are a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
