There is an opening for a Gardener position within the Infrastructure Services - Operations Division is available immediately. The Gardener assists with the City of Cambridge's horticulture programs. Performs functions in accordance with established standard operating procedures, departmental and corporate policies, sound horticulture construction and maintenance principles and practices, with a focus on providing excellent customer service and continuous improvement processes. Reporting to the Supervisor of Horticulture, the following requirements apply:
College diploma in horticulture technician, greenhouse technician, landscape technician, turf management or a related discipline is required.
Over 24 months of work-related experience in similar role
A valid Ontario Class G driver's licence in good standing, with a driver's abstract acceptable to the City (4 or less demerit points may be considered acceptable).
Expertise in all areas of horticulture including design, disease and insect problems soils and plant propagation
Possess advanced knowledge of Greenhouse operation inc. mechanical heating, lighting, plumbing, air circulation.
Ability to operate small gardening/landscape equipment and hand tools
Meets requirements of Physical Demands Analysis for position
This position is within the outside workers union Salary Schedule Grade 5 and has a hourly range (2025 Rates) of:
Starting Rate: $32.50
12 Month Rate: $33.51
24 Month Rate: $34.51
Comprehensive Benefits Package including Health Care, Dental, Vacation Days etc. included.
Ontario Municipal Employee Retirement Plan (OMERS) is also included.
