Internship Overview
As a Health & Safety Intern at P&H Milling, you'll get hands-on experience in implementing and maintaining health and safety protocols within our flour milling operations. The intern will work closely with our Health and Safety team to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
Location: Head Office-1060 Fountain Street N, Cambridge
Term: May 5, 2025 - August 29, 2025
Compensation (This Internship Is a Paid Position): $22/hour
Your Day to Day
Learn to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Assist in developing and updating health and safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
Participate in safety training sessions and promote a culture of safety awareness among employees.
Assist in investigating accidents or incidents, documenting findings, and recommending preventive measures.
Assist in conducting health and safety inspections and audits throughout the flour mill.
Collect and analyze safety data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Collaborate with the safety team on various projects and initiatives.
Some travel within Ontario may be required. *The company will provide compensation for mileage.
What You'll Learn
Gain insights to relevant health and safety regulations and standards applicable to flour milling operations. This includes regulations from local authorities, as well as industry-specific guidelines.
Learn how policies are communicated to employees and integrated into daily operations to promote a safe working environment.
Develop communication skills by interacting with employees, supervisors, and management to address safety concerns, provide updates on safety initiatives, and facilitate discussions on safety improvements.
Receive mentorship from industry experts and professionals in the field.
What We're Looking For:
Currently enrolled in a degree program related to Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
Possess a valid Canadian's Drivers license that allows you to drive unaccompanied.
Strong interest in health and safety practices within an industrial setting, preferably in food processing or manufacturing.
Knowledge of basic health and safety regulations and standards.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Full-time availability for a 4-month term, May - Aug 2025
