The Hydrogen Technology Branch (HTB) has a well-established team of professionals and technologists specializing in the fields of hydrogen production, hydrogen safety, catalyst development, and energy storage technologies. This position will support the hydrogen production portfolio - mostly on experimental work; however, process modeling and data analysis could be part of this project.

What you will be doing:
Under the supervision of research scientists and technologists the student will:

  • Preparing ceramic materials and ceramic slurries in the laboratory aiming to prepare ceramic cells use for hydrogen production experiments,
  • Operating laboratory equipment for materials characterization,
  • Testing ceramic cells with already established methods and systems,
  • Attending technical meetings and discussions,
  • Supporting data analysis and data gathering tasks,
  • Writing technical reports to document work.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Currently enrolled in the second or third year of study at a university of recognized standing in a suitable program such as Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Nanotechnology.
  • Experience
    • Basic hands-on experience in chemistry laboratories.
    • Experience with high-temperature material is an asset.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Comfortable to work in a team environment where frequent and open communication is part of the culture.
    • Self-motivated to achieve high-quality results.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."
