Are you enthusiastic about National Security matters and the protection of Critical Infrastructure? Are you eager to learn about and help solve the challenges facing the industries that keep our lights on, our trains running, and our drinking water safe? Do you want to work on the cutting edge of Canada's research critical infrastructure? Then, CNL's National Security & Critical Infrastructure (NSCI) Research Directorate is the place for you.
NSCI Directorate oversees research in four critical Mission areas, supporting the industry and the Canadian Federal Government: Cybersecurity, Nuclear Detection, Nuclear Forensics, Emergency Preparedness, Response and Recovery, Nuclear Safeguards and, Biodosimetry Assessment and Countermeasures. The result from this research is used to provide guidance to both regulators and industry on effectively meeting nuclear and critical infrastructure security standards.

What you will be doing:
- Preparation of white papers
- Supporting academic and industry partnerships
- Supporting ongoing research efforts
- Supporting operational activities such as emergency exercises preparation
What we are looking for:
- Education & Experience
- Currently enrolled at an academic institution of good standing in International Relations, National Security, Criminology, or multi-disciplinary fields such as Infrastructure Protection and International Security
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Demonstrated ability to carry out research or independent study
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's "Standard on Security Screening" and the "Policy on Government Security."

Location:
CNL works with employees across Canada to enable a remote workforce where possible. Our work-from-home employees are provided with the equipment required to be successful: laptop, monitor, external keyboard and mouse, etc. Of course, we always love a visit to the site when possible!
CNL's Chalk River laboratory is nestled in the Ottawa Valley and affords our employees an environmentally pristine area with extensive forests, hills, and numerous small lakes.
