Can you see yourself analyzing bioassay samples and air filters? Does the idea of using a database to record sample data excite you?

If you answered yes, then this may be the job for you!

The Bioassay Lab, as part of the Internal Dosimetry Service at the Chalk River Laboratories (CRL), conducts analyses of biological samples (typically urine and nasal swipes) to monitor workers for radionuclide intakes. This position involves the performing chemical isolation of the radionuclides according to defined procedures, and the analysis of air filters. The samples are analyzed using sensitive instrument systems for the detection of low-level radioactivity (alpha-beta gas proportional counters, liquid scintillation counters and gamma detectors). This position will involve the receipt of samples into a database, working in a chemistry laboratory and with nuclear instrumentation. The work will require interfacing with other groups to obtain the necessary information or to request sample re-tests. The Internal Dosimetry Services is a team environment, and operates under a rigorous quality control program.
