Are you interested in a new and exciting opportunity? We are hiring a Civil/Architectural/Mechanical Technician to prepare building drawings and perform Engineering Change Control close outs. Do you have an interest in performing field walk-downs, site drawings, and configuration control? If so, this may be the role for you!

What you will be doing!

  • Preparing accurate as built drawings.
  • Performing engineering change control close outs.
  • Performing void and destruction of obsolete drawings.
  • Effectively managing multiple tasks and assignments.
  • Displaying a positive attitude and a strong ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Working independently in an environment of rapidly changing and conflicting priorities, using prioritization and planning skills to meet established deadlines.
  • Personally committing to safety and having a questioning attitude, a self-motivated individual showing attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Occasionally visiting off-site CNL facilities
  • Wearing personal protective equipment, to mitigate any physical/health hazards, if entering highly hazardous environments, if required.
  • Willingly working beyond the normal workday, when requested and/or approved by line management, when project deadlines or emergent work require it.

What we are looking for:

  • Education
    • Secondary School Graduation Diploma or equivalent and normally has more than three (3) years pertinent progressive experience or the equivalent in experience, additional education and/or training. OR
    • Graduation from a recognized institute of advanced technology in a field relevant to the position, or equivalent formal education.
  • Experience
    • Must have experience in preparing accurate design drawings and strong blue print reading skills.
    • Must be experienced using Auto Cad to revise and prepare as built drawings in a proficient manner.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Knowledge of general construction methods (architectural and structural), mechanical and electrical systems, CNL Design Office Manual (DOM),and CNL Engineering Change Control (ECC) Process is an asset.
    • Must be capable of performing field walk downs to record the as built status of construction projects in the civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical disciplines.
    • Must be able to prepare various documents to support work plans such as figures, maps, diagrams, and illustrations.
    • Must be able to revise existing CADD and hand drawings and prepare hand drawn sketches based on conditions in the field.
    • Initiative, motivation, and good people skills to work with peers as well as both internal and external customers in a team environment.
    • Proficiency in both written and oral communication is required.
    • Must possess a working knowledge of design drafting technique and practice, a working knowledge of mathematics, and of standard construction equipment, processes, and materials in mechanical, civil, structural and architectural fields.
  • Security Clearance Eligibility Required
    • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Location :

CNL works with employees across Canada to enable a remote workforce where possible. This role requires occasional work at CNL’s Chalk River Laboratory site, permitting the employee to primarily work remotely, should they so desire. CNL employees who choose to work remotely the majority of the time are provided with the equipment required to be successful at their remote workplace (laptop, chair, monitor, etc.); however, they are not provided a dedicated onsite office. CNL’s Chalk River laboratory is nestled in the Ottawa Valley.
